It's Getting Closer

Hello Ladies! Just a few updates/changes. I've e-mailed Muffy all of the info for the invitations and Jamie should be getting the list to her this week. I've spoken to Hannah and she has ordered 8 inch plates, 10 in plates, beverage napkins, and lunch napkins in the Option 1 put on the blog. I've also received an e-mail from Meg about being in charge of the cake. So that's three big things delegated. I've spoken to Katie about tablecloths and I believe that she will be taking care of those for us. I will check with her again this afternoon. Oh and by the way, I went ahead and reserved the room from 12:30-5 just for my sake. That is not for everyone to be there. I just figured the more time that I had to get things taken care of there before the shower without all the running around, the better. Also to be able to set up the tables. They have about 8 big round tables and I think she said 64 chairs. I was thinking that maybe we could set it up a little different than normal and maybe set up all the tables for everyone to sit at and eat, and then maybe bring in a few rectangle tables for the food for a good flow on both sides. Just an idea!
Noah and I went with Jamie yesterday to get her registered FINALLY! We made it to the Childrens Shoppe and Target, but her feet were just too dang big and tired to hit up Wal-Mart, so Noah and I are counting on her to take care of that soon. We need to decide if everyone wanted to go in on a hostess gift, or if everyone wanted to just get their own gifts for baby Alli. She mentioned the travel system that she registered for at Target, so that would be a great option for us. Be thinking about that! Also, I chatted with her about some of the foods that she did want or should I say CRAVE......
  • Chicken Ball (with crackers)
  • Queso and chips
  • Spinach Dip (with crackers)
  • Fruit and dip
  • Punch (feel free to suggest a good punch)

Rachel volunteered to make cookies in the different shapes. I also thought that the tortilla rollups with ham and cream cheese would be good. I want everyone that wants to do something or help to be included, so please feel free to volunteer for a food, or decoration, or fun shower idea for Jay. Don't let me leave anyone out.

Have a Safe and Happy New Year's!

    Checking In

Hello Ladies. I know that we just have 7 more days until Santa visits us, and everyone is probably running just a wild as I am, if not more. But I did want to check in and see if anyone had new ideas. Jamie said that she might have 50 on her list, but that we could just plan for 35 and be fine. So Hannah, do your "thang". I know you were waiting on that. And Muffy, this will help you too, if you haven't already talked to her. And since I haven't heard anything about another venue, I am going to plan on having it at the bank room like I mentioned before. If someone is not happy with this, or has another idea, please speak now or forever hold your peace. We need to get all the info so that Muffy can get the invites ordered ASAP. Jamie has NOT registered yet, so hopefully I can get her on that as soon as all the Christmas hustle and bustle is over. I was thinking about making the cake for the shower. Again, if anyone is against all of this please let me know. The cake that she showed me was a 2 or 3 tier, but I thought it'd be cute to do 2 or 3 small cakes on different cake plates at different levels. And I could use pink tule and lights under all of the cake plates somehow. Just an idea. I wouldn't think that it would be hard to round up a few cake plates. Let me know if anyone has a cute idea for table decor. I have been saving all of my formula cans (yes, it's alot, and Chris could kill me for it), and I thought that it would be cute to cover them in girly scrapbook paper with sweet baby notes or something. And we could put flowers in them or anything really. Let me know if you have other ideas. It's sneaking up on us. Also food! Has anyone been thinking about it. We could do a theme, or we could do regular shower finger foods like.......
    • chips and dips
    • chicken ball
    • cookies
    • fruit/veggies
I don't know. I'm not good at deciding menus. ~A fine example: On Tuesday, I went with the girls in my office to do some last minute shopping and to eat dinner in Monroe. Well when we finally got ready to eat dinner (el Chicos) at 9:00pm, I couldn't decide what I wanted, so we ordered 3 different things and shared them all. It was really fun and delicious. So, If someone would like to step up and think of things that everyone could bring/make that would be great, or if everyone would just like to let us know what they are bringing, that would be great also. I mainly just wanted to touch base with everyone. I hope that everyone has a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Leaving you with a pic of Jay and my man!

    Paisley Party Decorations

This is so much fun! Just like that I found some really cute stuff at platesandnapkins.com. The napkins are $4.95 for a set of 20 for both designs and the 8 inch plates are $4.95 for a set of 8. There is also a 10 inch plate as well. The 8 inch size plates say a small meal could be eaten on them. Here are some options--

    Option 1

    Option 2

I personally like Option 1 better. Option 2 looks a little to retro but it still is very cute. So I could learn to love it too :) Yall just let me know what you think. I can take the reign on ordering these and taking care of cups, eating utensils, etc. I have a really cute pewter punch bowl with ladle and clear punch bowl that doubles as a place to put small food items underneath (like strawberries or small petit fours). Just for fun, I found on Target's website this paisley furniture set. Look how cute--

I love the bench! You could store all sorts of stuff in there!

Alright, Jana, you are so sweet for doing this for your sister. I am so glad I can help out! Please let me all know what you think! Love, Hannah Lee

    Invitations

Muffy, We're putting you in charge of the invites. You always do such a great job. Before I talked to all of you, I was checking out some invites. Here are a few ideas, again that paisley theme. Have fun with it.
And Jay told me that she HAS started on her list!

    ~Let's Start Showering~

Hello Everyone! I thought this would be a neat way to begin our planning for Jamie and Alli....and we can't forget daddy! He's so very excited about this baby. I know you all can't wait to meet her. It won't be long. I think planning this shower will be so much fun!

Please feel free to post blogs on here with pictures and ideas of things we'd like to do or use. This way everyone will be able to check in and see where everyone's at, and if anyone needs help working on something. I thought that we'd go with a pink/green paisley as our theme. That's what her bedding is. So far, Jay said that she'd like to try for January 24th, 2009, here in Ruston. I think that she was looking at having this as her big shower and trying to invite everyone to it. Let me know if this will be ok for everyone. If so, I have already talked to First National Bank about reserving their room. There's no cost and it's where I had mine. Here are a few pics if you can tell anything.
Some of you were hostess for mine, so you already have an idea. She said that they have 8 round tables with about 8 chairs to go around them. I went ahead and put our name down for that date just in case there were no more options, or we wanted to save a little moolah. Again...this if for everyone to throw out their ideas, I am open to anything. Another place mentioned was the TL James big white house. I have no idea how to find a number or information on it. Everybosy saus that they've been there or thrown a shower there, but no contact info. So, if anyone's interested in checking on that...have at it.
She's picked out a cute design on Kacees website, if you're interested in looking at. http://www.kaceessugarandspice.com/
Click on birthdays, 4th page and 3rd on the top row. It's pretty close to the one at my shower if you look above. We actually got our friend Stephanie Roberts "The Cake Lady" to make mine and it was deivine.
I hope that you all will find this easy to use & throw around ideas. I am anxiously waiting to hear from you. Have a great weekend.
